Rehab exercises

Rehabilitation – what’s happening inside the body? Your body is forever being damaged by the physical and emotional strains and stresses in life. When the body is working well it deals well with this onslaught by remodeling, adjusting and repairing. When there is an acute injury the bodies initial response is paramount for the healing process to begin:
  1. Joints stiffen up to stop moving it, preventing further damage
  2. Muscles spasm to prevent movement, getting you guarding the area
  3. Swelling is released bring rush of chemicals to first protect the region and then start the repair process.
  4. Nerves become sensitised increasing bodies awareness, injured sight is in a vulnerable state
  5. Brain is processing this whole event into its memory, preventing this injury happening again
All of these responses have one thing in common, they will all produce pain. This is where the healing process can and far to often goes wrong.   Rehabilitation – what’s happening outside the body? Therefore the primary goal for any injury is always to reduce pain, the faster this happens the more likely you are to have a full recovery. Pain will often change the way your body moves, leading to compensatory movements that can often cause more strain on your body.
